Boothstown Village Hall

A part of our community…

The hall opened in 1874 as Boothstown Church School. It was paid for by the Earl of Ellesmere and administered by a board of local dignitaries under the auspices of the Church of England.

In the years leading up to 2011, the building was used less and less by the school, now known as St Andrew’s, as they moved gradually into new premises on the same site.

In August 2011, the building was handed back to the church and since then has been managed by a group of local volunteers for the benefit of the community.

Rooms in the building are hired out to local groups and businesses including scouts, cubs, guides, brownies, before- and after-school clubs, Baby Ballet, Repair Café, fitness groups, playgroup etc. Ellenbrook and Boothstown Brass Band rehearse there and groups hire rooms for meetings. Church groups meet there. The main hall has become a popular venue for children’s parties at the weekends, along with the occasional Christening party and wedding reception.

The building opens every year for Heritage Open Days weekend in September and the Vintage Tea Rooms, held three times a year, have become popular community events.

The Boothstown Village Hall Association, which is a registered charity, has overseen much recent improvement to the fabric of the building, financed by income from hirers and grants from Salford Community Committee and Viridor, the landfill company.
